Greedy Italics

      I’m typesetting a book with multiple text style.
      There are a lot of italicized words in the text. When I bring the Word file into InDesign, every time InDesign finds an italic word, it italicizes the next number of words or sentences as well. I checked the Word doc and can’t see a reason for this. And there are no character styles applied in InDesign. How can I fix this?

      Silly me. Should have searched the forum first.
      I found David answered this before. I saved it as a .doc instead of .docx and that seems to have done the trick.

      Have you tried to save the Word file as RTF?
