Forum software backslashes — possible solution

      Hi all you javascript and grep posters. I just recently learned this trick for a html documentation project I was working on. This could be a possible solution to the backslash (and any other) problem when posting code on indesignsecrets.com. Click the HTML button above, then put all your code between

      and

      . That should keep the forum software's grubby little hands off your code. Here's an example. Everything below this line is within a pre tag:

      Okay, wow. That's messed up. It worked in the preview and not in the final post. Oh well. I tried.

      Incidentally, that was supposed to be the pre tag before and after the “and.” So the forum software recognizes it as a tag and hides it, but it doesn't honor its properties.

      Amy, the simplest solution is to type two \'s where you want to see one . (And so to get those two \'s I had to actually type “”.)

      I see you edited your 2nd post — if you edit a post where you inserted double backslashes to get single ones, you will see that they are actually stored online as single backslashes. It's just the input system that 'needs' this. So if you edit a post, make sure to scan for any 'slashes and double them up again.
