      Some of our jobs need 85% black body. Some of our jobs need 100% black body. Head colors vary. I recently ran into a 12-page document with both mixed up 85% black and 100% black body copy. No reason for it, other than user error. Don’t get me started on using Paragraph Styles at this company… the battle has been fought and lost.

      Is there any way to find 85% black text and change it to 100% black text

      I didn’t see any way that worked in the Find/Change more advanced settings.

      Any help would be appreciated!

      Did anyone give the colors names? Or save as an IDML, and look for text in Stories such as
      AppliedCharacterStyle=”CharacterStyle/$ID/[No character style]” FillColor=”Color/C=0 M=0 Y=0 K=100″>
      and change the K values. (I must admit I have gotten into IDML only twice — and this was #2!)

      Since it is only a 12-page document it will take not too long to do it manually. I would say that is the cost of not using paragraph styles ?
      The easiest way is to find/replace by text specifications like font, height, or color and then change to a paragraph style, but since they are not into paragraph styles…

      But you can specify colors in both Find and Change settings! It sounds like you need to click the button “More options”. Then, just click inside the rectangular field below the Find and the Change fields to specify the formatting for both. “Character Color” is one of the main items in the left side list of options.

      See also the online help https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/find-change.html under Find and change formatted text.
