How can I export my indesign document whose final output is meant to be saddle stitched (has a multiple of 4 pages)?
For example, if I have an 8 page A4 book design:
I want pages 1 (front cover) and 8 (back cover) to be on the first A3 sheet (book cover)
On the reverse side of the 1st A3 (book cover), Inside page 1 (front cover) to be page 2 and inside page 8 (back cover) to be page 7
On the 2nd A3 sheet: page 3 (table of content) and page 6
On the reverse side of the 2nd A3: Inside page 3 to be page 4 and inside page 6 to be page 5

Are you having this printed at a shop? Just send a PDF in single pages, 1-8. The shop will likely have imposition software so they can set it up the best way.

You can manually impose in InDesign if it’s not too big a file. I often export as PDF then impose either on a larger sheet, or start a Facing Pages document with page #2 so each spread has 2 pages.

There are several imposition plug-ins and software for PDF out there, depends on your needs, budget. https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2066259?start=0&tstart=0

Search this forum for Print Booklet – it can be done within InDesign, but my experience with it was…well, unpleasant.
