Drawing a triangle pointing down. Impossible?

Quick question: If I draw a triangle with the polygon tool, it always draws it with the tip pointing up.

So, if I want it point down, I will have to rotate or mirror it. That is no problem of course. But if want to apply any object formatting with a gradient or shadow to it, the direction of the gradient or shadow is also mirrored or turned.

Question: is there a way to RESET the angle values of the turned triangle to zero, just as if it was an unmodified and clean new object?

Wonderfully obscure solution to this problem… it's the same issue, fundamentally, as this post on how to rotate text inside a frame:

Draw a tiny frame on top of the triangle, select both, then choose object > pathfinder > add. Weird, eh?!

      Thank you David,

I hoped for a keyboard shortcut or so ;-) But this workaround seems to solve for a bunch of problems.

      Thanks again,
