      Hi,

I'm having a somewhat intractible problem with the text on some pages of a document I'm working on. Indesign is breaking some parapgraphs far earlier than is necessary, leaving large whte spaces at the foot of the pages affected. If I manually edit the keep options Indesign moves the whole paragraph onto the next page, effectively making the problem worse. I've attached a screen capture so you can see what I mean.

I'm fairly inexperienced so my sincere appologies is this is dealt with somewhere else in the forums, I'm having trouble finding anything on it, perhaps because I've no idea what the appropriate search terms should be!

Ok, so I worked out that my foot notes are causing this, but not why or how to remedy it Any sggestions?

      Cheers!

      Hi Jahmin,

Maybe the text box containing footnotes has text wrap applied.

Joe, there is no text box for the footnotes. It's much simpler than that.

Look at the first line of the next page: you can see a tiny superscript '1' in there. I bet that's another footnote, and that footnote text is longer than can fit (with the text line attached to it) in the space available above the footnote 2 on the previous page, and I also bet that Jahmin does not allow footnotes to break across pages. So … InDesign has no choice but to move the footnote (along with the text line it belongs to) to the next page.
