      Hi,
I’m trying to figure out how to create a cross-ref to an image.
      For example:
The image is a display ad and it’s currently on Page 10
On Page 2 I want a “Please see our ad on page n” link

As far as I can see, cross-references can only be made to text. I’m sure I’m not the first person to have this requirement! Anybody know how to do this?
      Thanks!

Just make a caption, and refer to that. You can make the caption invisible (0,1 pt, no colour) and group it with the image.

Sure a “static” caption could be a quick and easy way but I would use a “text anchor” (whose name would be the name of the image) if this image is anchored!

Sorry, I should have said – it’s not an anchored image. That’s part of the challenge – the image might be subsequently moved to a different page.

      Pat,

      What I mean is:

if an image is just placed on a page, I would anchor it in an auto-resizing text frame and, as it is anchored now, I could create a text anchor whose name would be the name f the image.

Of course, that could seem complicated but, personally, I would just need 1 click because I would use a script for that!

Ah, I see what you mean.
I don’t suppose you have a script that you would care to share? :) I’m not very familiar with ID scripting myself …

As said in another topic, I am working on cross-ref. at the moment.

I will write such a script (for me, for fun) and post a video on my YouTube chain!
I will surely post its link here.

If interested, take a look! … and maybe then contact me if nobody helps you to fix your issue!
