I’m going to guess this isn’t possible, but I thought I would ask anyway.
Is there a way to create a PDF file from an InDesign file without opening the ID file?

I have a whole bunch of ID files that need to be made into pdfs for review and they are each heavy and take a couple of minutes to open. So I am trying to figure out a shortcut.

      Thanks!

How many is a “whole bunch”?
Why not open 5 at a time while you’re taking a break?
Then create your PDFs while you take another?

      Its 16. I could do that :)
I just thought maybe there was an easier/faster way.

I think you might find that the time you take in trying to find a “faster” solution will preclude what ostensibly is the de-facto “fastest” solution… just open them!

That may be true. In the meantime, my time spent just included shooting off a post on a forum and working on other things while I wait for the replies to come pouring in :)

Marxzware makes a fascinating tool that may help:

OmniMarkz (InDesign, PDF & QuarkXPress to IDML) macOS

If you try it, let us know how it goes!

Wow, all my Christmases and Chanukahs seem to have come at once! I just purchased PDF2ID but this also looks like a great tool!

      Hi Rivkah,

I use a script that Peter Kahrel has created call “Batch convert INDD files into PDF”

You can download a copy of the script from:

      https://redokun.com/resources/batch-convert-pdf-file.

Let me know how you get on with it
