I work with large text books and need to know if converting (idml) indesign 2022 back to 2021 could or will effect the hyphenation and therefore risk the text to reflow. The versions of Indesign 2019, 2020, and 2021 has been quite reliable in that sense but maybe 2022 is a bigger change. Does anybody know?

      Can’t you just try?

I don’t think there is a significant difference, but there is ALWAYS a chance it will change when opening IDML. In fact, I am surprised that you have not seen more reflow when moving back to 2019 or 2020.

Thanks for answers. I do my best to avoid moving back and trying is not an option when working with books 200-1000 pages. Reason for asking is I got stuck in the middle with the release of 2022. Working on Mojave and a machine that is too old to update enough. Do not want to update (buy new) but might have to depending of customers. Also using a lot of different versions of Indd and realized that new computer just let you istall 2 versions. Working with books and having to go back and correct new editions in old programs is a hassle due to all the new versions. I have about 10 different versions of indd on computers with different mac OS.
