I’ve built a 38 page INDD file with 5 sections. Each section will be exported as a PDF. I’d like to have a TOC for each section. There are no options within the TOC setup for selecting a page range. I figure I’m not the first person to have this situation.

My first thought was to divide the INDD file into 5 INDD files. However, every change to a style sheet or to a master page would require changes to 5 documents (painful).

      1. Is there a way to select a page range?
      2. Is there a plugin that will allow me to select a page range?

The only way I have been able to achieve this is to use different TOC styles with different ParaStyles (used in the various sections).

You can make parastyles that look the same but have different names

Yes to both, however — unless I’m missing something (always possible) — the different parastyles don’t solve the problem of selecting pages and applying the TOC to the individual pages within the selected section.

Set up new TOC styles that create TOC from the different parastyles applied in the different sections you need.

Just a thought, but couldn’t you do a TOC with text threads so it jumps to another page? Then add a keep option/start Paragraph-In next frame to the TOC Section parastyle?

what an absolutely fantastic and straightforward idea!
