What name of a month is also a command? March, of course! And InDesign is constantly marching forth, around the globe, doing good where it goes. Here are a few articles that you’d better bring along with you on your long march…
- For everyone who loves the Trajan font (and, face it, who doesn’t?!), you have to read Thomas Phinney’s background information on three new faces: Trajan Pro 3, Trajan Sans Pro, and Lithos Pro. These don’t appear to be on Adobe’s web site yet, which is intriguing. And why is Thomas announcing them before Adobe?! Well, all will be explained in time.
- Martinho da Gloria (from Automatication) has a new and very cool add-on called Find/Change Attributes. Read about it in detail here on Cari Jansen’s blog.

- You may have heard that the Encyclopedia Britannica will no longer be printed. I was fascinated to read that they don’t feel sad about discontinuing print. It’s probably good for them!
- James Felici wrote a good piece on How-to Balance Columns with Vertical Justification in InDesign.
- This isn’t really about InDesign, per se, but I love what the Print Handbook folks are doing. Check out these fun cards, and look around the site! They have a new version of their print handbook, too. The first edition was really cool!
- So you’re trying to lay out some kind of three-dimensional packaging… you need a template! Check out the cool templates on istockpack.
DPS and Tablet Stuff
- Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite (DPS) will support the new iPad, apparently. But remember that twice the resolution means four times the file size! Here is an overview of the new features in the newest build of DPS.
- Cool! There is a new Digital Publishing Suite Developer Center. You might think of yourself as a designer, but if you’re making apps, you’re a developer, too.
- Speaking of the new iPad, here’s Bob Bringhurst’s take on how to create folios or renditions for it using DPS.
- Hey, everyone is getting into the new iPad upgrade race: Aquafadas just announced that they’re updating their software to support the Retina display, too.
- Have a whole bunch of PDFs that you want to turn into DPS folios? Check out this script!
- Getting a new 2012 iPad? The resolution is huuuuge, compared to the original Mac. (I still have my 128K Mac sitting here. Oh, those were the days. I might have to plug it in and see if I can get it running again after seeing this.)
