TechSmith Introduces Camtasia Studio 5 So Education Professionals Can Easily Create Polished Multimedia Presentations and Intera
TechSmith Corp., the world’s leading provider of screen capture and recording solutions, today announced the availability of Camtasia Studio 5, which enables education professionals and technology coordinators to quickly record lectures and create engaging multimedia PowerPoint presentations and screencasts that students can view any time via the web and wireless devices.
Camtasia Studio greatly decreases the cost, complexity, and time required to create rich educational content and requires no specialized training, so educators can easily incorporate the software into their teaching routines.
"Introducing students to Camtasia gives them one of the necessary tools for sharing their knowledge with their classmates and the world," said Mark Frydenberg, senior lecturer of Computer Information Systems at Bentley College. "Students reviewed each other’s podcast videos, and we often talked about them in class. That generated interesting discussions both on the topics of the videos, and how students created them. I look forward to seeing what they can do using Camtasia Studio 5. It has features that guide users through the process of easily creating and sharing professional-quality videos."

Camtasia Studio automatically records exactly what a user sees on a computer screen, what they say, and how they interact with PowerPoint or any Windows-based application or website. The content can be delivered online or offline in all the popular multimedia formats, including portable media players such as the Apple iPod. Camtasia Studio can record from any Windows-based computer, including Tablet PCs, Wacom Tablets, and interactive whiteboards.
"Thousands of educators and students use Camtasia Studio to create course content and record live PowerPoint lectures," said Troy Stein, Camtasia Studio Product Manager at TechSmith. "The new features in Camtasia Studio 5 open up the playing field to allow those who are not tech-savvy to quickly create and share polished content."
Camtasia Studio 5 is also integrated with TechSmith’s new Screencast.com hosting service, which is currently in open beta testing. The integration between Camtasia Studio 5 and Screencast.com facilitates fast and easy video sharing via RSS and iTunes for educators who want to ensure high-quality delivery and maintain control of their recorded lectures.
In addition to the many user-experience and stability enhancements, some of the new features in Camtasia Studio 5 include:
- Snap-to-App — automatically places applications, dialogue boxes and the cursor in the right recording position at the right time so action is smooth, editing time is reduced, and the presentation is clear and professional. See the Snap-to-App screencast for the new recorder at: https://www.techsmith.com/cs5recorder.
- Camtasia SmartFocus™ — enables users to create smooth automatic zoom-n-pan action with a single mouse click to focus the viewer’s attention on important points of interest and to provide visual clarity when delivering screencasts inside small playback windows like blogs, on YouTube, or via the Apple iPod. - TechSmith ExpressShow™ — is a sleek staging and playback format for Camtasia Studio screencasts that gives the viewer user-friendly controls and puts maximum emphasis on the content while taking up minimal screen real estate. Customers can also apply their own corporate branding.
- New Screencast.com, blog, and FTP preset outputs that allow users to easily share content quickly online.
