SoftCare and CoreMedia Interlink Technologies for Cross-Media Publishing

SoftCare and CoreMedia will be presenting the integration of their systems – SoftCare K4 and the CoreMedia CMS – at IfraExpo in Vienna from October 8-11. The theme of the joint presentation will be “Manage any Content. Serve all Media.” This solution crosses system borders to allow publishing houses, agencies and corporate publishers to take advantage of the complete spectrum of cross-media publishing and implement future-oriented content strategies. At the SoftCare booth (Hall A, No. 640) both companies will be presenting the cooperation of K4 with integrated Adobe Creative Suite and CoreMedia CMS to enable content distribution via print, Web and mobile output channels as well as taking advantage of advanced web features.
The workflow was designed with simplicity in mind, allowing the creation of all-in-one solutions such as a “Unified Newsroom,” or the use of external connections, as is often the case with agencies or corporate publishers. Initially, articles are created and edited in K4. They are then exported using the K4 XML Exporter, at which point the CMS takes over and publishes them using their own layout. At this stage, special online ads can be placed.
CoreMedia CMS further extends the Web-based functions to include an automatic Top 10 List, breaking news, full-text search, RSS feeds, and comment and e-mail functionalities, plus an image and video gallery as add-ons to the print edition. “Our content management solution ideally meets the challenges of media and business in the age of Web 2.0,” says Sören Stamer, co-founder and CEO of CoreMedia. “Our content technology is tailored to match the needs and expectations of its users, and is a technically innovative and stable product. It also extends the reach of the cross-media value chain to include Web, TV and mobile services, thus supporting new business models.”
In the context of current and future market developments, the integration of the two systems presents customers with a truly ideal combination. Andreas Schrader, Managing Director of SoftCare: “Beside the traditional print products, publishing houses, agencies and corporate publishers more and more rely on the use of digital channels. Indeed, the importance of digital channels is steadily growing and the sharp increases in revenue for their commercialization are offering compelling chances for the future. It is therefore a logical step for us to pursue the strategy of enabling our customers to maximize the use of their content by networking precisely these channels.”
The publishing system SoftCare K4 can be integrated into existing production environments and offers numerous existing connections to asset management, newspaper/ad planning and automated output systems as well as to systems for data sourcing and management. The K4 Web Editor offers external editors an additional, browser-based access to the system. SoftCare K4 is used by customers across the globe and supports the latest Adobe Creative Suite 3.
