When you’re looking at the fonts menu in InDesign, you probably know that you can click a small button to the left of a font name to reveal the available styles for that font, like bold, italic, etc.

But you might not know that if you hold the Command key on the Mac or Ctrl key on Windows, when you click any one of those buttons, you will reveal all of the styles for all the fonts in the menu, allowing you to view all your available font options at a glance. Well, a very long, scrolling glance, most likely.

Note that this expanded view of your fonts doesn’t stick. The next time you go back to the menu, it will appear as normal, with all the styles hidden again.

Is there such an option where you could “show” only the fonts you’ve dedicated for a specific project and “hide” all other “system” or for some reason “necessary background fonts”? It’s distracting to have to scroll through all those fonts I have no intention of choosing. I’d like to see this feature for all Adobe applications.

Me too! I’ve wanted that kind of thing for years. AFAIK, the closest thing you can do is click the star next to each font you want to keep visible to tag them as favorites, and then click the button at the top of the fonts menu to filter by favorites. This will hide all the system and non-project fonts.
