“20 Things I Learned About Browsers and the Web” is an ebook, of sorts, but it’s not a PDF or ePUB file. And it has animation, but it doesn’t include animated GIFs or even Flash files. Google staff created “20 Things I Learned” using HTML5, a major revision of the HTML standard. While HTML5 isn’t even final yet, it’s been generating big buzz for many months.
Take a look at “20 Things I Learned About Browsers and the Web” and the navigational tools surrounding it and you’ll see why. It’s an experience that’s familiar to readers of print books but also well-adapted to the online world. That’s not to say it’s perfect; I don’t care for the body type, for example. But as an example of a new technology’s potential, “20 Things I Learned” is impressive.
