Reader Q & A
If you have a lot of links on your site, how can you keep your visitors from leaving and not coming back?
One smart way to avoid having your visitors follow links away from your site and never come back is to target a new browser window every time you link to another site. How do I load a browser-safe swatches palette into Photoshop?
It’s quite easy. Choose Window>Show Swatches, and in the Swatches palette, shown in Figure A, choose Load Swatches from the pulldown menu.
Figure A: Choose Load Swatches from the Swatches palette pulldown menu.

Why choose interlace when creating GIFs?
Interlaced graphics display more quickly than non-interlaced GIFs, but they come in "passes," with chunks of the graphic displaying at lower resolution before coming into focus at higher resolution, as opposed to graphics that may delay displaying until they’re completely downloaded. The theory is that your average Web surfer will stick around longer if he or she has something to look at.
What’s MIME?
MIME stands for Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension. It’s the file standard for transferring sound, movies, and images over the Internet.
