Blatner Tools Plug-ins for InDesign CS5 Released
Prague/Seattle, August 24, 2010 — DTP Tools announces the immediate availability of Blatner Tools for InDesign CS5. Blatner Tools is a suite of 12 InDesign plug-ins. This collection offers over 100 additional features for InDesign users, including the ability to:

I was looking at the pricing for this. Is there an Educational discount by chance? I work at a University and these tools would be helpful here at work.
If there is no educational discount then I will talk to my supervisor to see if we can get these tools for our computers.
I was sad to see that keyboard shortcuts is no longer a free plugin for InDesign CS5, which now requires me to purchase the entire Blatner Tools set. I have no interest in any of the other tools in this set. Any chance this will be free in the near future?

@Jason: I see your point, but I’m curious as to why you say you have no interest in the other tools. If you use keyboard shortcuts enough to want the plug-in, then you would probably also find it useful to apply keyboard shortcuts to your color swatches, styles, layers, and a dozen or more other features in InDesign that do not normally have shortcuts.
Similarly, if you’re a power user, you probably wish you could find/change colors, create style reports, compare two or more styles, use the quality assurance panel to clean up common mistakes, and so on.
Blatner Tools is 1/3 off until the end of November, so it’s only $99 for the whole package. You could save so much time you’d pay for it in a day or two!
@David: I guess what I was saying is that I like those other tools, but I’m so anal about how I structure my files that I would only use them once in a blue moon. Key commands for swatches would be cool, but since I’m building my object, paragraph and character styles with swatches, I don’t have a need for manual key command overrides. And since I can apply key commands to those styles and also use quick apply, I feel that I have that covered. Maybe I’m not understanding the full extent of your plugins, but I didn’t find them nearly as useful as the keyboard shortcuts plugin. To be perfectly honest, I’d be willing to drop some coin on that plugin alone (withing reason). But, $99 is an awful lot for one thing out of the package.
@Jason: Those are good points (though I still bet you’d find a lot of good use from the other plug-ins). But I’ll talk to the dtptools folks and see what can be done.
@David: Thanks. I really appreciate it. If it weren’t a free download for the past two versions I wouldn’t have a problem with it. It really is one of the best plug-ins I’ve ever installed into InDesign, so I don’t blame you guys for wanted to charge a fee.
I purchased Blatner Tools when I purchased InDesign CS5 last spring. I just purchased the upgrade to InDesgin CS5.5. After I installed Blatner Tools, I can no longer find them in CS5.5. Where are they and how do I access them?
