I was listening to the two of wondering aloud why you can change the horizontal and vertical rules independently of each other. It jogged loose a long lost memory of an early PageMaker classroom exercise where we were instructed to chose Custom to set the vertical ruler to match the baseline grid. A-M guessed that might be the reason, and I think she’s right, though as much as I use the baseline grid, I’ve never felt the need to make the ruler match the grid increments since teaching that particular lesson.
Thank you, Barb! Yes, I personally believe this is an “Olav Martin Kvern” feature… that it, I think he used the vertical ruler like that in PageMaker for book design in the 90s.
