Photo Management App Morphs from iView MediaPro to Microsoft Expression Media to Media Pro
The software that began life as iView MediaPro was bought by Microsoft in 2006 and had its name changed to Expression Media. Its star didn’t rise high in the pro photography sky, and last year Microsoft sold the app to photo equipment company Phase One. Now Phase One has made some changes of its own, rebranding the app as Media Pro.
The $199 ($59 upgrade) Media Pro is basically a collection of visual catalogs you can browse, organize, and annotate to manage photos and videos. These assets can be stored on your computer, external media, and shared folders. Each catalog can hold about 128,000 files.
Media Pro now integrates with Phase One’s Capture One image-editing software. Capture One’s raw image rendering engine is built into Media Pro, and the apps automatically share metadata. The Media Pro interface has been redesigned so that it’s more familiar to Capture One users.
