PACA's New Site Packed With Critical Resources
The Picture Archive Council of America (PACA) recently launched a redesigned website that offers a wide range of resources and information. The new www.pacaoffice.org features a sleek look with user-friendly navigation.
Since Copyright Education is a big focus for PACA, the website prominently features information and forms for ordering the acclaimed book, Photographers Legal Handbook. There is also a downloadable version of the PACA Copyright Education PowerPoint presentation entitled “Copyright and Copywrong in Image Licensing.” Both pieces were prepared by Nancy E. Wolff, an authority on image licensing and the law.
The PowerPoint presentation explains what copyright protects and the duration of protection. Wolfe speaks to the common businessman, escaping the legal lingo that often confuses and confounds members of the creative community. Topics such as fair use, what is an infringement and what is not, and how the Digital Millennium Copyright Act can be used to remove infringing works from the internet are covered. Slide notes are included to make it easy for anyone to take the presentation to a design class, an ad agency or any other interested organization.
One of main facets of the site is an complete directory of their members which includes stock photo agencies in North America and across the globe. This is a great asset for art buyers who can search more than 150 stock archives by keywords on one page. This tool is just one of the ways PACA is teaching the stock photography industry how to maximize Internet exposure.
Additional highlights of the site include an Events Calendar, Member Directory, Newsletter Archive and a fantastic Document Library, which is available only available to PACA members. The library of legal documents includes contributor agreements, distribution agreements, release forms and license agreements.
Fortunately becoming a member has never been easier with membership benefits information and applications just a click away at www.pacaoffice.org.
