OpenDyslexic
In his article Towards a Typographic Prescription for Dyslexia, Jim Felici mentioned Abelardo Gonzales’s OpenDyslexic font. The font aims to help dyslexics by using deliberately unblanaced characters, heavily weighted at the bottom.

You can learn more about the way OpenDyslexic works and download it at Dyslexicfonts.com.
OpenDyslexic is a work in progress, and the designer is seeking donations to support his continued development of the typeface by adding “many improvements that need to be made to it: adding kernings, letter shapes, and expanding the character set.”
For an expanded story behind OpenDyslexic, including information about apps for iOS that use the font, and legal challenges to the font, check out the article by Jason Mick at Daily Tech.
