OneVision Speedflow Impose: Premiere for Networked Imposition and PDF 1.6 for Print and Media Production

OneVision Software AG, leading supplier of innovative software solutions which simplify print and media production, today introduces Speedflow Impose 2.2 – an updated version of its imposition software strengthening the focus on networked production. The new version includes technological features that will contribute to further increase efficiency of PDF based imposition. As premier product for print and media production Speedflow Impose supports PDF 1.6, the new PDF version in Adobe Acrobat 7. Starting together with the product launch of the new Acrobat version, Speedflow Impose offers fast and easy imposition of PDF 1.6 documents.
After JDF export had already been implemented in 2003, OneVision introduced the innovative import of JDF based as well as PJTF based imposition schemes at drupa 2004: Imposition schemes of other programs can be taken over easily via standardized JDF job tickets ever since. In the third JDF stage of extension Speedflow Impose now offers another world premiere: in-RIP imposition via JDF job tickets.
According to individual requirements Speedflow Impose 2.2 can now provide a JDF file, the source files’ PDF pages as well as an additional PDF containing all marks to the RIP. Imposition is then handled in-RIP using the JDF information and the pages: Based on Speedflow Impose imposition information the RIP can place the pages directly in the right order and set the marks according to the mark PDF.
In that way corrections and changes inside the source PDF pages can be carried out until the very last minute before the RIP process starts. Furthermore the data volume can be distinctly reduced, since only relevant pages have to be transferred to the RIP instead of complete imposed sheets. Additionally single separations of composite PDF files can be imaged facilitating fast production of replacement or correction plates.
A new JDF export menu in Speedflow Impose 2.2 now allows easy and fast configuration of JDF job tickets. This facilitates free allocation of JDF IDs allowing users to harmonize the naming of files according to the procedure at other production steps – e. g. integrate the job number in a file name for better identification. Alternatively Speedflow Impose can directly provide a completed flat as a PDF for RIP processing – as supplied before. On top JDF version 1.2 is now supported.
Additional features of Speedflow Impose 2.2 concentrate on improved usability. Hence user defined marks like control strips can now be centered automatically independent of sheet format in order to place them always relatively to press and punching in a unified way. To identify files quicker the default name for imposed output is now based on job name and title. Furthermore the integration of Speedflow Impose 2.2 into Speedflow Cockpit, OneVision’s PDF workflow control and collaboration tool, has been improved.
