November release of InCopy CC 2015 (or lack thereof)

Forgive me, but I need to get something off my chest. On Monday, Adobe announced the release of the November edition of the Creative Cloud 2015 apps which includes new and updated features for all of the Adobe apps except, you guessed it, InCopy. For several versions now, InCopy users have been limited to compatibility updates that keep InCopy in line with the features added to InDesign. Now don’t get me wrong, some of these features are great features. Paragraph Shading, TypeKit Fonts, graphic cells in tables, and Find Previous are just a few of these features that InCopy users have benefitted from.
The November release of InDesign CC 2015 includes a feature that allows users to dynamically choose alternate glyphs for a selected character. How many of you could benefit from this feature? I know I sure could, but alas there is no update to InCopy and therefore InCopy users are left out. While we’re on the topic of glyphs, we were shortchanged in the previous release as well when InDesign gained the ability to search for a glyph within the glyphs panel. Again, another great feature that InCopy users could take advantage of that was omitted from the InCopy update.
What do do?
So what good does my rambling accomplish? Absolutely nothing. Nothing that is unless we take action and tell Adobe that we as InCopy users deserve features and improvements that will help us to work more efficiently in our day-to-day operations. I encourage all of you to go to the Adobe Feature Request page and submit features that you’d like to see or improvements you’d like to see made. This way Adobe will hear from users like you and hopefully will take your suggestions into account in future versions of InCopy. I’d also like to encourage you to share those feature requests with us in the comments section below so we can all weigh in and hear about those features and requests you’d like to see. Do it now while the thought is fresh in your mind and let Adobe hear your voice!
