New Type Walking Tours for 2006
The walking tour of typographic London, introduced by Typevents in the autumn of 2005, has proved to be a great hit. Individuals, businesses, universities and schools and have all taken the opportunity to be guided around London’s typographic gems. The tours will continue to run bi-monthly throughout 2006 and confirmed dates until the end of June are as follows: 28 January; 4 & 18 February; 4 & 18 March; 8 & 22 April; 13 & 27 May; 10 & 24 June. Walks commence at 1100 am outside the St Bride Institute, Fleet Street and cost £10.00, £1.00 of which is donated to the Friends of St Bride Library.
Commencing in Spring 2006 Typevents will be running an additional walking tour. This new walk will be a typographical journey around the unobtrusive and often unrecognised sites of London’s typefounding past including sites associated with Caslon, Figgins, Stevens, Shanks & Son, Stephenson Blake and the Monotype Corporation. So if you are interested in the mechanics of the trade, then this is the walk for you. More details and dates will be available on the Typevents website shortly.
Bookings can be made on-line at www.typevents.com
