New GretagMacbeth Technology Provides Affordable Electronic Color Communication

GretagMacbeth has introduced a new on-screen sample simulator that now displays appearance attributes including texture.  The on-screen simulator electronically displays the effects of appearance attributes on color samples such as textile knits and weaves, textured plastics and other textured surfaces.  Developed to provide a more cost effective alternative to high-end stand-alone software, the new technology is integrated into the GretagMacbeth new Color iQC and Color iMatch Professional Editions.
The enhanced on-screen color tool opens new opportunities for manufacturers and suppliers to further compress product development and curtail costs.
“This is a major step forward in bringing electronic color communication to the masses,” says Francis Lamy, GretagMacbeth CTO.  Lamy says that until now, this technology was only available in separate software applications costing tens of thousands of dollars.
“We’ve integrated this technology into a single color control software application at a fraction of the cost.”  Lamy notes that the new tool is as easy to use as e-mail.  Plus, testing indicates that users like its convenient location within the same color control application they normally use.
A leader in color and image reproduction technology, GretagMacbeth also offers additional assurance for accurate color rendering with their optional Eye-One Display computer monitor calibration system.  The system provides consistency among computer monitors used to view electronic sample submissions.
