New Destination for Print Design Lovers

Mohawk Fine Papers Inc. has launched feltandwire.com, a paper-centric site. The tagline tells the tale: “Impressions from the paper-obsessed.” Edited by freelance writer Alyson Kuhn, Felt & Wire will showcase creativity on paper — from postage stamps to posters, memorable mail to beautiful books, and invitations to artistic innovations.
The site, designed by Pentagram, will also serve as a virtual “correspondence salon” for graphic designers, letterpress printers, and other paperisti perpetuating the appeal of paper in the digital age. Part show and tell, part resource guide, the site includes a directory of letterpress studios around the country and an archive of projects produced on Strathmore papers.
Kuhn will also report on programs, exhibitions, and books of interest. Her first review, Pop ’n’ Shop, looks at ABC3D, a pop-up book by Paris-based designer Marion Bataille.
“This is our way of creating a stage, a forum — and an on-line archive — for some of the wonderful work we see. It’s also a way to bring together a community that is passionate about the interplay of design and paper,” comments Laura Shore, Senior Vice President Communications and Innovation Strategies.
Visit feltandwire.com now to see sketches and read details of Marian Bantjes’ redesign of the iconic Strathmore thistle, or to see the use of accent marks as design elements. Upcoming stories include Twitter investor and advisor Chris Sacca’s love of his new letterpress-printed business card.
