New Book on Using Symbols in Logo Design and Other Visual Communications
Our world is composed of a handful of simple patterns that can be broken down into the simple shapes of nature–symbols that set the most compelling visual communications apart from the noise we are subjected to in our daily lives. Maggie Macnab, owner of Macnab Design and author of the recently published and highly acclaimed book, Decoding Design: Understanding and Using Symbols in Visual Communication explains how symbols speak directly to our unconscious and create powerful communications from a interdisciplinary approach.
Decoding Design looks at the many layers of symbolism in visual communication (particularly in logo design, the encapsulated symbol of graphics), how to communicate with greater meaning and impact by using universally understood symbols, and also deconstructs some of the messaging within corporate communications at the subliminal level.
