New Advertising Opportunity for the Creative Arts Industry
Call for Participation: Latitude 34 Studios invites all those involved in the creative arts industries to participate in the Million Pixel Image.
Why? Well who really likes being on page 2 of a Google search or any other online directory – no one! In the creative arts industry of illustrators, photographers, graphic designers, etc., where most are individuals, and there are thousands (no millions) of them out there, only 20 can come up on the 1st page of any given Google search. Solution? Pixel Advertising.
Although the original idea of "Pixel Advertising" was brought to life when Alex Tew created the very successful MillionDollarHomepage to earn college education money, the real potential of the idea may still lie ahead for the commercial market. Alex’s brilliant idea has basically given us 500 pages of search results (10,000 listings) on one page – albeit not targeted – and that’s where there’s room to improve upon his idea.
So what better industry to benefit from this unique marketing idea? And who better to create the mosaic-like image than artists themselves?
Launched on November 14, 2005, Latitude 34 Studios utilized the idea of “Pixel Advertising” and created the Million Pixel Image. Specifically targeting the creative arts industries, the Million Pixel Image now hosts over 100 participants, and is growing daily. The site allows for potentially 10,000 artists to create a single "purposeful" image of creative resource links. Thus, giving thousands the opportunity to contribute and have their own web site made available at a single glance (or random click).
"Contrasting your typical online portfolio directory, which aims to keep viewers at the portfolio site, our goal is to catapult viewers to our advertiser’s web site," said Tamra Dempsey, Creative Director for the Million Pixel Image. "We want our viewers to ‘surf the web’ more — to see more of the unique creativity that is out there — and not to merely stay on our site. We’re simply the springboard."
For viewers, curiosity and the randomness of links will launch you to creative web sites which you may never have visited on your own through traditional means (for instance, those great sites lost on page 256 of a Google search). The Million Pixel Image is simply a fun way to surf the net for creative inspiration – and who knows, you just might find what you were looking for (even if you didn’t know what it was).
For participants: Here’s how it works… the Million Pixel Image is divided like a grid into 10,000 square advertising blocks of 100 pixels each (10 x 10 pixels). Participants place image blocks of their own creative design wherever they feel their work will enhance the Million Pixel Image. The participants image block(s) will then link to the their own web site.
Latitude 34° Studios’ editors aim to keep the Million Pixel Image content exclusively targeted towards the creative arts industry. Participants to include: Advertising Agencies, Illustrators, Art Consultants, Interactive/Multimedia Design, Art Directors, Letterers, Artist Representatives, Photographers, Production Artists, Copywriters, Stock Illustration & Photography, Design Studios, and Fine Artists.
In addition, Latitude 34 Studios pledges to donate 20% of the profits from the Million Pixel Image to various charities selected by the participants.
