Macromedia ColdFusion MX 7 Offers Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server Support

Macromedia, Inc. (Nasdaq: MACR) today announced the availability of the Macromedia ColdFusion MX 7 Updater, a free, incremental release adding new platform support for Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" and Mac OS X Server 10.4 "Tiger", plus updated support for Oracle 10g, Red Hat Linux AS 4, Solaris 10, and IBM WebSphere 5 Network Deployment. Native support for Tiger opens up the well-known rapid development advantages of ColdFusion to a whole new Tiger developer audience while creating an exciting new deployment option for existing ColdFusion customers. This Updater is being released alongside rapid adoption of ColdFusion MX 7 by leading establishments in a broad range of industries. Since its release in February, ColdFusion MX 7 has been rapidly adopted by thousands of organizations around the world. Organizations such as the California Department of Transportation and Bushnell Performance Optics credit the powerful, new productivity-enhancing capabilities of ColdFusion MX 7 and an easy upgrade path from previous versions of ColdFusion for their swift adoption and implementation of the solution.
In addition to offering expanded platform support, the ColdFusion MX 7 Updater includes up-to-date hot and security fixes, and refines several of the important, new features in the ColdFusion MX 7 release. "We are pleased to welcome Tiger developers, who can now combine the power of ColdFusion with the power of the Tiger platform; offering companies of all sizes exciting new opportunities to build and deploy dynamic web applications," said David Mendels, general manager, Macromedia. "Meanwhile, we continue to be excited about the rapid pace with which customers are adopting ColdFusion MX 7, widely recognized as the most feature-rich, innovative release in the history of ColdFusion. Customers are quickly realizing productivity gains for both developers and application end users."
"Hundreds of breakthrough features make Tiger and Tiger Server the world’s most advanced operating systems," said Ron Okamoto, vice president, worldwide developer relations, Apple.  "We’re thrilled that ColdFusion MX 7 now supports Tiger and Tiger Server to enable developers to take advantage of Apple innovation to build and deploy feature-rich web applications."
ColdFusion MX 7 has gained rapid adoption since its introduction earlier this year. Developers are looking to ColdFusion MX 7 to easily design and generate high-quality, repeating group, structured business reports and populate them dynamically in the context of web applications, as well as create rich Macromedia Flash forms.
"The ability of ColdFusion MX 7 to easily generate business reports and print to web has cut our report development time in half," said Robert Burnett, project manager, north region, California Department of Transportation. "Our ColdFusion MX 7 web-based project management application helps our 12 district offices, and more than 23,000 employees working on thousands of projects, provide fast and accurate project information and reduce the time needed to manage projects."
ColdFusion MX 7 developers are also quickly taking advantage of the solution’s ability to dynamically transform web content into high-quality, printable, portable documents in PDF and Macromedia FlashPaper formats.
"In less than a month, ColdFusion MX 7 allowed us to develop and deploy a new warranty claims system with printable forms for our customers," said Lynne Roberts, system analyst, Bushnell Performance Optics. "There was no other solution available that would have allowed us to accomplish that. Based on the success we’ve already had with ColdFusion MX 7, we plan to redesign the Business to Business web application we use to support our sales representatives."
