Last-Minute Christmas Tags and Cards

2

The Christmas holiday is busy enough as it is, with parties, shopping, and family events. As designers, we know all too well that end-of-year deadlines can get in the way of all that merry-making. And—if you’re anything like me—your grand plans of designing your own tags and cards gets pushed to the bottom of your to-do list. As a result, I almost never end up using my own cards, having to make do with the remnants found at the dollar store.

Well, because I know you haven’t even started working on your yuletide accoutrements (don’t worry…it’s our little secret), I’ve put together a couple just for you. The great thing is, they’re all in InDesign, so if you don’t like any of the elements, it won’t hurt my feelings if you replace them. Feel free to use them as is or as a jumping off point for your own creations.

Each item is provided as an IDML file that you can open with InDesign CS4 or later and a PDF (with images set to 256 ppi). The InDesign files contain paragraph and object styles to easily change out individual elements. The 3-D snowman was created all within InDesign. Follow this InDesign Secrets tutorial to make your own.

If you’re looking for cheap or free graphics to replace the existing ones, you might check out deviantart.com (most items allow for personal use) and Creative Market, which has some nice stuff for $5 or less. I am strangely drawn to the “Christmas teeth.” I also just recently found an artist on Deviant Art that has holiday box templates, which I might be downloading at 10PM Christmas Eve. That’s how I roll.

Enjoy and have a safe and wonderful holiday!

Wish I’d found this somewhat earlier as it’s Christmas Eve today! But this is absolutely great, Erica, and I’ll download everything for next year. Happy Christmas and best wishes for 2022. May it be better than 2021
