Keep Your Camera Close, No Matter What
It’s a common dilemma for photographers: If you wear your camera around your neck, it bounces and swings. If you keep it in a bag, it’s not readily accessible. There are specialty camera straps that try to solve the problem, but they don’t work for everyone.
Peter Dering thought he had the answer. This engineer by vocation/photographer by avocation cobbled together a system that adds a clip to the bottom of a digital SLR camera so the camera can attach to a belt, a backpack strap, or any similar location. He built in a quick-release button so he could grab his camera and bring it into a shooting position in an instant.
After testing his system, he took the idea to Kickstarter to raise production money. It was a big success, and in mid-July, once the Kickstarter project expires, you can buy the Capture Camera Clip System for $70 from Peter’s company website, Peak Design. Until July 16, 2011, you can pre-order Capture for only $50 by funding the Kickstarter project. If you pledge between $50 and $74, you’ll get one Capture unit. If you pledge $75 or more, you’ll get one Capture unit, and Capture Extenders, which attaches Capture to a car roof rack, a bike frame, and so on.

Peter has written an extensive FAQ on the Kickstarter project page, which I highly recommend. It provides lots of technical detail, payment and shipping information, and more.
