How to Export Sharper Vectors to Publish Online Documents

Learn how to keep your vector images sharp and clear when exporting from InDesign to Adobe Publish Online.

In this InDesign how-to video, Anne-Marie Concepción shares a way to get sharper vector images when exporting to Adobe Publish Online. The secret is to convert placed Illustrator vector files to SVGs, so all the vector information gets passed through on export. She also gives a tip on easily updating multiple linked images all at once.

This comes from Anne-Marie’s “Favorite Tips from InDesign Secrets” session with David Blatner at CreativePro Week 2021. Join us in Washington, D.C. or online May 9–13 for CreativePro Week 2022.

forgive the sloppy typos in my observation.

Very cool tip. I noticed a color shift between the original .ai and the exported .sng and .art when you had them on the same page for comparison, but you didn’t mention that. Was the .ai file CMYK and export to .svg automatically converted it to RGB?

Using SVG for export is a great tip – many people evidently aren’t aware of that. Thank you, Anne-Marie for all of your knowledge and help over the years!!

And if I can offer one small quibble, not about the content which is always helpful, but the video itself as embedded above. It may be just me, but when I play a YouTube video here on these pages, I always have to click on the YouTube icon to go to the channel, because the video here has no controls on it, including the very necessary volume (because YouTube automatically plays videos at full volume). Any way to change that?
