Image Processing and Halftone Software Upgrades
Press Release
Isis Imaging Corporation announces Icefields 5.2 image processing and halftone software. Icefields is changing the printing industry. Now anyone can halftone their images and PDF pages. No longer is halftoning an end-of-the-line event — now graphic designers add halftones to their layout; photographers provide the halftone; prepress technicians select the halftone most appropriate for the photo’s content. All benefit from Icefields incredible halftone preparation features.
Icefields is a merger of image-processing and halftoning: Open any image format or any PDF page, prepare and halftone it, then print it off-line and even off-site. After all the halftone is the image’s final and most important state.
New features
Cluster halftone especially for silk-screen printers: Icefields provides a traditional screen with cyan at 20 degrees, magenta at 80 degrees, yellow at 7 degrees and black at 50 degrees.
Combination of FM and AM halftones by channels: Now, with one click, you can screen your image with traditional halftones in the cyan, magenta, and black channels and a stochastic screen in the yellow channel.
New price and Availability
Icefields is now priced at $450. The new price better reflects the amazing features seldom found in a RIP costing much more. Upgrades are still $75, and free to current Icefields 5 licenses at https://www.isisimaging.com/ICEFIELDS.html. If you operate a RIP you may quality for a free copy. Visit https://www.isisimaging.com to find out how. Icefields is available from the Isis Image website exclusively.
Why Icefields now
Stephen Herron, Isis Imaging’s principal scientist, comments: “While print management technology is moving toward automatic color, accuracy and hands-on control is lost. Icefields provides the tools users still need to control the image path through to the halftone.”
Stephen added: “The halftone screens, quadtone, duotone, fifth color, and rich-color removal are all experiments. Hopefully these ‘experiments’ are useful.” Isis Imaging’s market research shows that many who work in commercial print, prepress and photography industries are disappointed with their workflows. If Icefields is used only a few times a day, the savings are substantial.
