House 33 Spring '08 Line Brings Refined Tastes to Youthful Influences
Designers can’t help getting older, but the pen, ink and brush jockeys at House 33 still have sore joints from failed rail sides and knuckle scars from wrenching some extra horsepower. These poignant references are the fuel that fan the flames of the graphically-charged designs that define the House 33 Spring 2008 line from House Industries
For its largest collection to date, House 33 has tapped the creative talents of its parent company House Industries — a typography, illustration and design studio that markets unique fonts and artwork worldwide. Hand-painted designs that adorn interior trims and T-shirts offer a unique aesthetic that appeals to those unsatisfied by the more mass-produced, off-the-rack offerings at the local mall.
House 33 has ventured beyond its beautifully-illustrated, snake-hissing and slime-oozing T-shirts and sweatshirts to create a comprehensive assortment with an innovative twist on classic silhouettes. The line includes:
- Pinpoint Oxfords with a signature double button-down collar and "33" patterned interior taping.
- A five-pocket jean of double ring-spun 14.5 ounce selvege denim in authentic right-hand twill.
- "Old man" shorts in plaid and oxford.
- Loop-back French terry long-sleeve pullover and full-zip hooded sweatshirts.
- A classic golf jacket in a lightweight plaid nylon shell.
"It doesn’t seem so long ago that we were hitting the thrift stores to make our own skate shorts out of some old plaid golf pants," says House 33 co-owner Andy Cruz. "Those experiences and influences that shaped our youth retain cult status today, and continue to serve as a beacon for our creative process."
Call it street wear if you must, but the House 33 gang is working hard to define a new category. Their clothing speaks to anyone who appreciates the authenticity and originality of designs created by putting pen and brush to canvas.
The House 33 Spring 2008 collection is being offered by invitation only to select retailers.
