No program can do it all—and that’s a good thing. Can you imagine one application with all the tools you’d ever need for creating layouts, working with images, drawing illustrations, etc? You’d spend half your day wading through hundreds of menus and panels. And developing such an application would be a nightmare. We’re much better off having separate applications for specific tasks. So you need to know how best to use applications like InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator together in a smooth, efficient workflow.
