Fotolia's New Royalty Free License Option Gives Designers Extended Redistribution Rights

Fotolia (https://www.fotolia.com/), the first global online social marketplace for stock digital images is continuing to evolve as a mutually beneficial tool for photographers and designers. Fotolia is now offering an Extended Royalty Free License option for photographers and designers. If photographers choose this option, images can be downloaded, redistributed and resold on merchandise at the buyers’ discretion. Photographers benefit by still maintaining their copyright and can set the price for this new license of images within their rank, which is based on the amount of images that photographer has sold. And the design community benefits by purchasing images for redistribution without worrying about the traditional extreme costs of classic agencies and complications imposed by Rights Managed licenses.
Images that have been selected as Extended Royalty Free gives buyers the option to work with design template applications for distribution or display that can be used for sale on mugs, t-shirts, greeting cards, posters or other merchandise for sale. This frees buyers from the cost constraints of a Rights Managed license to use stock images in for-profit merchandise while the photographer retains the exclusive right to sell the image in its original form. The Extended Royalty Free License includes all the rights that are traditionally covered by the Rights Managed license but in a simple, unique extended feature becoming the fourth option of licenses for photographers and designers on Fotolia. Others include the Standard Royalty Free Web Use license, Standard Royalty Free Web & Print license and the Exclusive Buyout.
“We are giving designers the opportunity to profit from their Fotolia image investments while offering photographers another opportunity to expand their portfolio and make money,” commented Oleg Tscheltzoff, Co-Founder and President of Fotolia. “We are proud to be building a community where designers and photographers interact to evolve their skills as well as providing quality images at the best possible price.”
Launched in early November 2005, Fotolia’s digital image marketplace, available in English, Spanish, French and German, has already acquired over 200,000 images in its database and more than 21,000 international members. The marketplace grows each day with its aggressive affiliate program, Free Image section, Designer Search Tools and professional quality images starting as low as $1.
