FlipFont offers not only an aesthetic benefit but also the option to switch to a design that the user may find clearer for reading e-mail and text messages, enhancing their user experience,” said Patrick Mork, vice president of marketing at GetJar.
“It’s been a little over a year since we launched FlipFont on three handsets and a choice of 10 fonts on Vodafone live! UK. Since then we have broadened support to 62 devices, increased the FlipFont mobile font collection to 39 fonts including iconic typefaces that are among the most popular of all time, and most important, there are 76,000 users out there enjoying the FlipFont application; but we’re just getting started,” said Julie Strawson, director of marketing, Europe, for Monotype Imaging. “FlipFont has shown the effectiveness of type in delivering richer user experience and personalization capabilities to the small mobile screen. Moving forward, our commitment remains the same – to bring more fonts to more phones to more users across the globe.”
The 10 new FlipFont typefaces include the Neue Helvetica typeface, one of the world’s most widely used and recognized designs; the classic Frutiger design, used in brands and signage worldwide; the AdPro font, an informal, handwriting design; the ITC American Typewriter font, which resembles typewriter printing; the Felbridge typeface, designed for high on-screen legibility; the Julietrose design, a charming and vivacious script; the Kanban design, which evokes Asian calligraphy; the Present design, which exudes style and spontaneity; the Rage Italic font, which appears as a vibrant brush script; and the ITC Syndor font, an easy-to-read handwriting face.
