Expression Blend Takes Advantage of Latest Technology
This summer, Microsoft Expression Blend and Silverlight have proved to be true innovators in online rich interactive applications (RIAs) and media and broadcast industries. From unveiling the much anticipated Expression Blend 2 at MIX 08, to Silverlight delivering the world some of the largest online video events ever seen for the Olympics and Democratic National Committee Convention, Microsoft has set the bar for Web design and unparalleled user experience.
However, we knew that we needed to keep up with those Blend customers that are experimenting with the latest, cutting-edge release of Silverlight.
Therefore today, Microsoft is issuing an Expression Blend 2 Service Pack 1 Release Candidate, with the final release coming shortly after Silverlight 2’s release to the Web later this year.
What does this mean? The Expression Blend 2 Service Pack 1 will directly and seamlessly patch the previously installed version of Expression Blend 2 to utilize the newest designer/developer technology and enhance overall user experience. This will be a free of charge service pack for Blend 2 that will provide full authoring support of Silverlight 2. Customers who have been using either the Expression Blend 2 Trial or Expression Blend 2.5 Preview will receive an additional 60 days to test Expression Blend 2 once the Service Pack has been installed.
This Service Pack will provide, at no extra cost, full support of Silverlight 2, similar to the authoring environment that Expression Blend 2.5 Preview users have been experiencing. In addition, the Service Pack will not disrupt developer or designer workflow, and will continue to support current Windows Presentation Foundation and Silverlight authoring.
By leveraging the full power of the desktop and Web, Expression Blend 2 Service Pack 1 will allow developers and designers to work together to deliver big-impact, high-performance Web user experiences that drive brand recognition and repeat use.
