Digital Photography in an Analog Wrapper
The iPhone’s camera appeals to many pro photographers because it frees you from the technical concerns of choosing the best lens, aperture, shutter speed, and so on. It’s photography boiled down to subject matter and composition. In that way, it’s a lot like shooting with toy cameras.
Now Hipstamatic, an iPhone app, has brought the lomography experience to the iPhone in a different way. Once you buy the app ($1.99 from the App Store), you can simulate the look of lenses, flashes and films that were common among inexpensive film cameras of days gone by. You can also buy additional effects in “hipstapacks” for $.99 each.
For more information (including an “owner’s manual”), head to the Hipstamatic Web site.
