Creo Presents Powerful New Production Tools for Flexo

Creo Inc. (NASDAQ: CREO; TSX: CRE) is demonstrating new Adobe® Acrobat® plug-ins for the Creo Prinergy Powerpack® workflow management system at the INFO*FLEX Exhibition. This powerful suite of production tools is designed to help flexo trade shops and converters save time in prepress, accelerate job turnaround, and raise the quality and consistency of the printed package.
PDF Compare and PDF Merge
PDF Compare and PDF Merge are two new, innovative tools that reduce the time and cost associated with managing correction cycles in a packaging workflow. One of the challenges that arises in preparing one-up artwork for production is that last-minute changes can cause the approved design file to fall out of synch with the production-ready file. PDF Compare and PDF Merge offer a simple and unique way to resolve this issue, by allowing the prepress operator to compare two files, extract all of the production work that was done on the original production file (traps, screening assignment, overprint settings, etc.) and merge all of those elements into the revised production file. This ensures that both design and production master files are always up to date. These easy-to-use plug-ins to the Prinergy Powerpack workflow allow trade shops and converters to save time in prepress, reduce costly errors on press, and improve relationships with customers through improved management of assets.
Trap Trimming
Trapping has always been a challenge for packaging applications due to the diversity of substrates and package shapes, and the wide range of printing press tolerances. To address this issue, Creo has added a new automation feature to the Prinergy® Advanced Trap Editor, a Creo plug-in for Adobe Acrobat. Trap Trimming creates labor savings and makes prepress more efficient by reducing the amount of manual trap editing required to prepare packaging files for production.
DotShop
DotShop™ is an Adobe Acrobat plug-in in Prinergy Powerpack that allows users to select, customize and control screening options on a per object and/or per artwork basis in PDF files. Using DotShop, a prepress operator is able to selectively assign custom screening attributes and tonal compensation curves to individual objects, instead of globally to the entire file. This gives the operator the ability to manipulate the file to maximize the print results on the final label or package.
All of these new Prinergy Powerpack production tools are now available and being demonstrated at the Creo booth (# 707) at the FFTA INFO*FLEX in Orlando, FL, March 20-21, 2005. A sneak preview of Prinergy Powerpack version 3.0 is also being shown to INFO*FLEX visitors.
