CreativePro Week Preview: 5 Can’t-Miss Photoshop & Illustrator Sessions
Our Editor in Chief shares his list of five sessions on Illustrator and Photoshop that you do not want to miss at CreativePro Week 2024
CreativePro Week 2024 is coming soon to Washington, DC, July 8–12. With over 70 sessions on InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, PowerPoint, and more, there’s something for creatives of all types. Here’s my short list of five sessions on Photoshop and Illustrator that I can’t wait to check out. For real. If you spot me at one of them, come over and say hi.
Breaking Bad Photoshop Habits
Dave Cross is one of best Photoshop trainers on the planet. Don’t take my word for it; the man is in the Photoshop Hall of Fame. So, when Dave talks Photoshop, you’re not just going to learn how to do something, you’re going to learn the best way of doing it, and why. This session can help you boost your Photoshop efficiency from meh to magnificent.
I Can’t Believe It’s Not Photoshop!
If you’ve been a long-time Illustrator user, you’ve seen the work of Orlando Arocena (Mexifunk). Adobe chose him to create the artwork for the splash screen of Illustrator CC 2014. How cool is that? And it’s obvious why; his joy in using Illustrator practically jumps off screen. I’ve never seen Orlando present, but I bet that joy is contagious. And who wouldn’t want more joy in their work?
Graphic Styles for Workflow Magic
Everyone who uses InDesign is familiar with the power of styles. Without them, making long documents would be next to impossible. So, I can’t wait to learn how to wield that same kind of power in Illustrator via graphic styles. And Laura’s teaching style is so clear and effective, you’ll leave the room thinking, “I got this.”
Creative Problem Solving with AI in Photoshop
Rob de Winter has the rare and wonderful combination of always being on the cutting edge but still grounded in practical, real-world techniques. Some presenters show you mind-blowing stuff that you might use once a year. But with Rob, your mind will be blown by thinking of all the time you could’ve saved on your last project using his techniques. And how much time they’ll save you on the next one.
Oh, by the way, if you check out the agenda, you’ll notice that Orlando’s and Rob’s sessions occur at the same time. If that happened at another conference, I’d sit in the back row to watch half of one, then run to the other room and try to figure out what was going on. But you’ll never have to do that at CreativePro Week, since you get a full year of access to the session recordings. You can watch any of them as many times as you like, wherever you are.
Resolution: How Well Do You Really Understand It?
Many moons ago, I was a prepress specialist, responsible for the print quality of the books my employer published. That’s a job where you just gotta get it right the first time, because there’s no Undo when the presses start rolling. Fortunately, we have Theresa Jackson to set us straight about how many pixels we really need to get great output, and to untangle terms like DPI, PPI, LPI, and ZPI. Okay, I made that last one up. But the rest are real (and really important), and no one teaches ’em better than Theresa.
Come for the Pixels, Stay for the Vectors (or Vice Versa)
These five sessions represent just a small fraction of the amazing Photoshop and Illustrator knowledge you can acquire at CreativePro Week 2024. There are other great sessions on AI, AR, charts and graphs, photo retouching, workflow, and much more. From beginner to expert, there’s something for everyone. Register now and don’t miss out!
