Corbis Acquires Beateworks

Corbis (www.corbis.com), a leading provider of complete visual solutions, today announced the acquisition of Beateworks, an image licensing company providing high-end interior images and celebrity home stories to some of the most prestigious magazine and corporate clients in the world. With the addition of Beateworks, including InsideOutPix and Beateworks@Home, Corbis now has the leading interior image and home collections in the industry.
This acquisition will advance Corbis’ strategy to aggressively grow its royalty-free and rights managed lines of business in categories that matter most to commercial clients. “Based on trend research and market data, we understand the demand for images of home interiors and living well,” said Steve Davis, president and CEO of Corbis. “Whether it’s a photo of model Naomi Campbell preparing Jamaican food on her patio, or actress Julianne Moore with her children in her New York apartment, the Beateworks collections are full of rich home images.”
The Beateworks collections are further complemented by Corbis’ industry leading rights clearance services, which enable clients to clear celebrity rights quickly and easily. Together, Corbis and Beateworks intend to identify and create the most relevant visual answers for the growing interest in interior design, decoration, creating a home, or living like the stars.
Headquartered in southern California, Beateworks photographers create images for some of the most prestigious home and lifestyle clients including: Elle Décor, In Style, House Beautiful, Architectural Digest, and Metropolitan Home.
“Corbis and Beateworks are a perfect match, ” said Beate Chelette, founder and CEO/President of Beateworks. “Corbis impressed me with their enthusiasm about our collections and their understanding of high-end imagery. Corbis is the only company that has a keen understanding of the celebrity@home market and understands that this feature segment is an important part of our operations.”
“Over the last few years, the At-Home segment has shown a significant growth rate as consumers view their homes as a symbol of their identity and self expression. In order to fulfill the increasing demand for the imagery, I had to look to Corbis to take the collections to the next level,” said Chelette.
In 2006, Corbis will integrate the Beateworks collections into its media library, website, global sales, and marketing programs to offer comprehensive access to the full range of Corbis and Beateworks imagery and services.
