ColliderScribe: the smarter version of SmartGuides
If you’ve used Creative Suite apps like Photoshop, InDesign, or Illustrator, you’re probably familiar with SmartGuides, those temporary guides that appear when you manipulate objects. SmartGuides aim to help you by snapping objects into alignment as you move them. The only trouble is, sometimes SmartGuides don’t seem very smart, snapping objects into every possible alignment but the one you want. If you’ve ever longed for a smarter version of SmartGuides, check out Astute Graphics’ new Illustrator plug-in, ColliderScribe.

ColliderScribe enables you to work in a very natural way, positioning shapes quickly and precisely so they just touch one another. With it, you can easily arrange shapes in patterns, place shapes at an exact distance from each other, and even rotate shapes around other paths, while keeping the objects just touching.
Here’s a brief video showing what you can do with ColliderScribe.
ColliderScribe works with Illustrator CS4–CS6, and best of all, it’s cheap enough for anyone to buy, priced at just £10 (+VAT), (approx. $15 US/ €11). A free 14-day trial version is also available.
