Adobe and Marvel Team Up to Create New Avengers Comic

Four lucky students will soon be on their way to San Diego Comic-Con, courtesy of Adobe. The software company—in collaboration with Marvel Comics—held a contest in early spring to showcase the Creative Cloud apps. Open to students 18 years and up world-wide, the contest’s prize is to be on the creative team for a new Avengers comic. The comic will be the first-ever student-illustrated Avengers comic.

Artists were chosen by Adobe, via their online Behance portfolios. People from 47 countries entered, simply by posting non-Marvel creations and tagging them with the #madethis and #Marvel hashtags. The four winning students—from schools in Rhode Island, San Francisco, Ohio, and Denmark—will receive an unspecified cash payment, entry to Comic-Con, travel costs, and even a daily stipend. If being paid to go to Comic-Con isn’t cool enough, they will also have the opportunity to meet with Marvel artists and other professionals, via interviews and portfolio reviews.

Adobe released a sneak-peek of the comic in progress on their Adobe Students Facebook page.

The winners are currently at work creating the Avengers comic, using Adobe’s Creative Cloud apps. Adobe specifically mentioned Adobe Brush CC as one of the tools the students are using, but we have to assume the desktop apps will be playing a large role, as well. The students’ limited-edition origin story comic will premiere at San Diego Comic-Con in July.

  1. Adobe trying to play nice to designers after gouging us when they switched their software to the rip-off subscription model? No thanks. They are evil, perhaps the Avengers can save us from the bean counters who have ruined Adobe.
