What Makes a Logo Effective?
In a post on the blog Just Creative Design, Jacob Cass outlines what he sees as the five key characteristics of good logos:
– Appropriate
– Memorable
– Simple
– Timeless
– Versatile
He backs up his beliefs with examples of each characteristic and quotations from well-known logo designers and. For instance, Cass cites Coca-Cola as a timeless logo and quotes David Airey as saying, “Trends come and go, and when you’re talking about changing a pair of jeans, or buying a new dress, that’s fine, but where your brand identity is concerned, longevity is key.”
