      Hi,

I’m attempting to open an indd file another designer made changes to; and two issues are happening:

      1. An error window pops up saying ‘Cannot handle the request because a modal dialog or alert is active. (what does this mean?)
      2. A window pops up saying there are 30 links to be modified when the file only has 8. (what is happening?)

This isn’t the only time I’ve had problems with artwork received from this particular designer (both with idml and indd files after just upgrading to CS5.5 from CS5). I was hoping with my upgrade there would be no conflicts, but now I wonder if there’s a setting on her computer that’s impacting the files or if somehow my settings got changed?

      Please help!
      Thank you!

I’ve seen error window no.1 when I’ve double-clicked one file to open it, and then double-clicked another file while it’s still in the process of opening (or something like that). Is it possible you’ve got more than one file open or in the process of opening, and the 30 links apply to the “other” one?

Thank you – I can’t believe it was something as simple as two docs trying to open at once. I recreated the same scenario with different docs and that’s all it was.

And the 30 links was because we had multiple layers within the doc I discovered after opening it (not even an issue after all).

This forum is so helpful and a huge timesaver. Thanks again!
