This year, TypeCon2007: Letter Space will take place August 1-5 in Seattle, the crown jewel of the Pacific Northwest. SOTA’s annual conference is a glorious week of talks, workshops, tours, exhibitions, and special events designed for type lovers at every level.
TypeCon2007 features more than 70 legends and innovators, including Marian Bantjes, David Berlow, Leslie Cabarga, Matthew Carter, Art Chantry, Tim Girvin, Bruce Hale, Akira Kobayashi, Kevin Larson, and Ilene Strizver. TypeCon2007 explores type for the screen, custom fonts for publications, Mexican type and lettering, calligraphy, letterpress printing, design for the region’s hot music scene, type that gets a little dirty, and more. Special events include a type and design education forum, the fourth annual Typophile Film Festival, an international exhibition of new type and design, and the Seattle premiere of Gary Hustwit’s critically-acclaimed indie film Helvetica.
