I am trying to make a book file in ID. What I want to do is export it to PDF with the chapter links intact, then run it full screen and use the index to link to whichever chapter that I want. No problem so far.

What I can't figure out how to do is at the end of each chapter, I want it to automatically go back to the index. Can I do that?

I tried setting up an anchor in the index file and then from the end of each chapter link back to that anchor, but the anchor from a different chapter doesnt appear for me in the list available for the link, only anchors in that document. Besides, doing that will require a lot of work. I just want it to return to the index when it hits the end.

I thought maybe I could do this in flash, but flash won't let me import PDF's or INDD files. I have never used Flash except to open it up and poke around.

      Thanks,

      Kirk

You have to have the target document open for ID to find the anchor. Select “Text Anchor” from the “Link To:” field and the target document from the document drop down. The book panel doesn't actually affect this, so it doesn't have to be open when you create the links.
