Ever since I got my new MacBook, applying a paragraph style to pasted text is a pain.

No matter what paragraph style I’m set to, when I drop in text, it comes in as one of our assigned character styles, (6 pt. Proxima Nova Cond, Caps, Red).

On a click to the paragraph style that the text box was set to, nothing happens. I have to highlight the text and click on the paragraph style to make it change.

It’s got to be something simple that was on my old Mac and is not on the new one.

      Help!?

Leslie, sorry for the delay… your post was held for moderation for some weird reason.

My guess is that it’s not the computer, but rather your document. It sounds like the default character style was set by accident. In the document, deselect everything on the page and then look in the Character Styles panel. My guess is you’ll see a character style selected. Click “None” instead.

This is a very common problem in InDesign, and can drive people crazy wondering what happened!
