Took my PC to a local repair shop. They installed a new solid state drive. All my files were preserved, but I had to reinstall software, including Adobe Creative Suite 3. Everything seems the same, except when I click on a graphic, “Edit original” is greyed out.

I assumed everything would be like before. Now I’m wondering if I was always able to “Edit original,” or if that’s something I had to select in preferences.

Just occurred to me … since I didn’t use Bridge (and several other add-ons), I asked the tech guy not to install the program. Could the absence of Bridge be the cause of “Edit Original” being greeked?

No, Bridge should not affect this.
Are you sure you’ve selected a graphic which is linked to a file on disk? (That is, when you select it, does something also get selected in the Links panel?)
If that still doesn’t work, you may need to rebuild your preferences.
